Two Decades of Making a Difference

Posted by

The Landfall Foundation has been a huge part of the Wilmington community for the last twenty-two years. The philanthropic organization founded by Frank Kenan is a way for the Landfall Community to help people in the Wilmington area by donating to multiple charities. Since it’s founding in 1995 the foundation has raised over 4 million dollars.

With a minimal overhead of only 3% the vast majority of donations go directly to the community. This is made possible by the low overhead and the board members all being volunteers. In the past twenty-two years eighty non-profits organizations have benefitted from the Landfall Foundation, and the majority of these were in the arts, education, and welfare. A few notable organizations that receive funding are the Landfall Scholars, which grants Landfall employees’ scholarships, Arlie Gardens, St. Mary’s Dental Clinic, and the Brigade Boys and Girls Club.

To help bring in donations the Landfall Foundations hosts numerous fundraisers. The most popular is the Landfall Foundation Gala, which raises almost 70% of the foundation’s revenue. Other events include a gold tournament, marathon, and art show.

The Landfall Foundation has been making a difference in Wilmington for over two decades thanks to the dedication of the board members and the support from the Landfall Community.

Holiday Headliners

story-1-photo-1One of the many great things about living in Landfall is the proximity to the many restaurants and to the nightlife in downtown Wilmington.  One of the most popular downtown attractions is The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College.  This new, riverfront venue is already being recognized as the premier performance facility in Southeastern North Carolina.

Two of our favorite musicals are headlining the Wilson Center stage this holiday season – Annie on Sunday, November 20 followed by Elf on Wednesday and Thursday, December 14-15. Also coming to the Wilson Center are performances of Schubert and Mozart by the Wilmington Symphony on November 12; Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis on Thursday, November 29; and Wilmington’s own City Ballet production of A Carolina Nutcracker, a homegrown version of Tchaikovsky’s immortal classic, on Saturday and Sunday, December 3-4.story-1-photo-2

In addition, the NC Symphony will pay a visit to the venue, performing Holiday Pops on December 22.

Located on the riverfront campus of Cape Fear Community College, The Wilson Center features a 1500-seat main hall, a 600-seat outdoor conservatory, and a 108-seat studio/blackout theatre. Landfall Realty was a proud supporter of the Wilson Center Capital Campaign in 2014.
