Wilmington’s “Shakespeare on the Green Festival” Is Back in Town for Its Seventeenth Season

Posted by

Shakespeare on the Green, now in it’s 17th Season, presents “The Merry Wives of Windsor” a comedy directed by Cherri McKay. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings June 5 – 28 beginning at 8pm at the Greenfield Lake Park Amphitheater. The series is always a huge hit during the summer months and this year is sure to be no exception.

In continuing its young artist program, the Shakespeare Youth Company will perform “The Comedy of Errors” also directed by Ms. McCay with performances being staged Tuesday-Thursday June 9-18. All of these performances take place in the recently renovated Greenfield Lake Amphitheater.

If you stroll into the park early you can enjoy your own picnic or grab a snack from the concession stand. Bug spray and battery operated fans might also be a good option on these warm summer nights. Greenfield Lake Amphitheater is located at 1941 Amphitheater Drive, Wilmington, NC (take Carolina Beach Road to Tennessee Avenue, which leads to the amphitheater). All performances are free to the public and donations are always welcome and appreciated.

For more information on cancellations and tickets please call 910. 762-6393 or go to www.MySpace.com/ShakespeareOnTheGreen.

airlie_gardensJust around the corner from Landfall, NC is one of Wilmington’s loveliest attractions, Airlie Gardens, which has been delighting area residents and visitors for over a century. While it is famous for their Live Oak (over four centuries old) and the more than 100,000 varieties of azaleas, there are a myriad of other fauna and flora to admire as you stroll through the 67 acres that comprise the gardens. In addition to being one of the areas premier wedding sites, Airlie Gardens also puts together some of the best entertainment for the area throughout the year and right now and through September 2 you can enjoy their “Jazz in Airlie Garden” concert series. Whether you live in Wilmington, are vacationing at one of our wonderful beach areas, or just down for the weekend, make sure you find your way over to 300 Airlie Road where you can enjoy Jazz every first Friday and get into the swing of things with Beach Music every third Friday. Whether you love music or just enjoy sitting under the stars, Airlie Gardens is just the ticket for a great way to end a day in the Landfall area. You can get a great overview of all that’s Airlie at airliegardens.org or, for more ticket information call 910.798.7700 or email airlieinfo@nhcgov.com.

Landfall Real Estate Forum

Posted by

In February, Landfall Realty hosted a property owner forum where I presented information regarding the real estate economy  generally, with its impact on Landfall real estate in particular.   I appreciate the several attendees who later contacted me to let me know how imformative they found the program.   Some of the owners that attended have asked for an update, and others, not in attendance, have requested another forum.  We are tentatively thinking of scheduling another get together in July.   As always, questions will be welcome.  If you have any suggestions as to what information would be of value to you, let me know.   After the first gathering, several attendees offered to buy me a drink, but the club bar was closed.  We will try to pick a day in July where that will not be a problem.
