Wilmington NC Celebrates Labor Day All Week Long!

Labor Day

WILD Festival kicks of f  September 1st  and runs through Labor Day.  The aptly named “Women in Labor Daze” celebrates all mothers, grandmothers, and mothers-to-be with events that include a Mayfaire concert featuring Michelle and the Midnight Blues, a comedic improvisation workshop with local pro Brooklin Green and much, much more all week long.  Please see the website www.wildwilmington.org or call 91.815.4775/910.398.4607 for more details.

September 2nd through the 6th you can catch the Thalian Hall production of Grey Gardens at City Stage.   Based on the lives of Edith Bouvier Beale and her adult daughter “Little Edie,” it is the tale of the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.  The musical tells the hilarious though heartbreaking story of the once spirited women.  Call 910.343.3664 or 800.523.2820 for more information.

September 3rd through the 6th the Cape Fear Playhouse presents Stop Kiss .  This poignant drama is about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change forever.  It examines issues of tolerance and intolerance, and challenges attitudes about who and how we love.  Adult themes and language may not be suitable for everyone.  Call 910.341.7228 for more information.

Choose your music venue on September 5th!  6:00 PM at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater it’s Outformation, Bloodkin, & DJ Logic in concert.  Tickets are $15 in advance.  Visit the Penguin webite at www.1067thepenguin.com for more information or etix.com for tickets. Jazz Under the Stars is being held on the beach stage in front of the Carolina Beach Boardwalk from 9-11 PM with the El Jay Johnson band.  This performance is free.

Thank goodness Monday is the Labor Day Holiday, you’ll need to relax and recuperate  from the very busy weekend you’ll have if you’re anywhere near the Landfall, NC area and join us for these events!
