NCAA Division I Golf Championship Coming to Landfall, NC

Posted by

Wilmington, NC and the surrounding area (perhaps  even the entire eastern seaboard and further) are anxiously anticipating the start of the 2010 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships to be held at the Country Club of Landfall May 18 through 21.  The Country Club of Landfall is a focal point of the Landfall community and one of the premier clubs in North Carolina.  The exceptional female golfers can look forward to playing the beautiful but demanding Pete Dye Course.  The Dye course, Landfall’s original golf course, was completed in 1987 and was completely refurbished a few years ago.  Characteristic of Mr. Dye’s signature styling, the course consists of rolling hills and undulating fairways, framing picturesque shots into challenging greens guarded by white sand bunkers and fresh water ponds.

Inaugural Marathon Huge Success and Loads of Fun!!

Posted by

What a blast we had at last Sunday’s marathon manning a water station for runners passing through our neighborhood.  Landfall Realty was the Presenting Sponsor for the inaugural Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon serving as a qualifying event for next year’s Boston Marathon.   Our sales agents and staff began the day at 6:00 preparing our stop for marathon participants who would soon enter the gates of Landfall and be heading our way in desperate need of hydration.  We worked nonstop mixing energy drinks, filling cups, keeping the road clean, and cheering over 1,800 runners, Landfall guests, we’d like to think.  We were impressed with the endurance of those leading the pack and the determination of those pulling up the rear.  After 4.5 hours we left inspired to keep running the race of real estate in these tough times.  Congratulations and thank you to all of you.  We look forward to seeing you next year.

Master Gardner Plant Sale

Master Gardener Plant Sale

Those of us in the Landfall, NC area know this because the Master Gardener Plant Sale is running  March 25 through the 29th.   The sale takes place at the New Hanover County Cooperative Extension on Oleander Drive (right around the corner from Landfall) and there’s a lot of excitement over the 56 new varieties of annuals and perennials being offered this year.  They have substantially increased the quantities of this group giving you a better chance to shop before supplies run. Also, the gorgeous hanging baskets that were such a favorite last year will be available in much larger quantity than last year.  You’ll definitely want to pick up one of these!  An amazing array of herbs and a great selection of shrubs, including our ever popular azaleas, round out this year’s offerings.  And, of course, the sale would not be complete without the carpenters under the tent with their hand made garden crafts; always a creative addition.

Last year over 250 volunteers participated in the plant sale which is the premier fund raiser for the New Hanover County Master Gardener Association.  All proceeds support Cooperative Extension and Arboretum grounds and programs.   As spring is welcomed, it’s a fun event and a great time to be around the Arboretum.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Sign up sheets for volunteering are up!  For more information, contact Jon Wooten at 395-2332 or CC Hensley at 798-7665.

Please call 910.798.7670 for more information on the sale, the new hours for this year’s event and much more.  Also, CLICK HERE FOR 2010 PLANT LIST, then make your wish list and get to the sale!!  Let us know how you make out.
