The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a short ride from Landfall NC and its real estate owners and visitors alike have the somewhat unique pleasure of being neighbors with a rare albino alligator!  In addition to this fanciful creature, the aquarium, one of the three in North Carolina, offers an endless array of daily and special activities to enrich your days (and keep your children occupied for hours).

Dialogue with a Diver during which divers in the tank will answer questions while they work, Creature Feature lets you get up close and personal with a variety of live animals, Animal Feeding Time allows you to ask questions about habitat and feeding needs, and Touch Tank Talk where you can learn more about creatures living in the rocky coquina outcrop (do we even know what that is?) are just some of the daily programs.  There are also day camps for different age groups and special events such as SHARK  WEEK July 26-31.  Check out the interactive calendar on their website for a complete listing.

It’ll take you about two hours to tour the Fort Fisher Aquarium, unless your enthusiasm plunges you into some of the programs.  You can break up your tour with something to snack on at SharkBites and don’t forget to grab a gorgeous souvenir photo from Fotofx before you leave.   For more information on any of these and lots of other fascinating events and educational opportunities, please call 910-458-7468  or 1-888-294-3477.  You can also log onto their website at www.ncaquariums.com and click on Fort Fisher.      This little gem is one of Wilmington NC’s best family outings, so have a fabulous time!
