High Seas Dreaming

Since its founding in 2011, YachtVenture has grown into one of the most successful fund-raising events on The Children’s Museum of Wilmington calendar.

This year’s event proved to be the best yet, attracting a record fleet of 15 yachts, a record crowd of more than 400 people, and a record fund-raising total of more than $60,000, according to Kathleen King of The Children’s Museum.

What is YachtVenture? In essence, it’s a way for us landlubbers to get a small taste of adventure on the high seas. Each year for the last six, local yacht owners have opened up their boats to the public for the benefit of The Children’s Museum.

This year’s event was held on Saturday, October 15th at MarineMax in Wrightsville Beach. In addition to the Yacht Crawl, it featured music by Professor DJ Dub, food by Sawmill Catering, a silent auction for a variety of great prizes, and a raffle drawing for a sailing cruise to Barcelona.

The Landfall Foundation is a proud sponsor of The Children’s Museum of Wilmington, which was founded in 1997 to stimulate the imagination and a love of learning and provide an opportunity to explore and better understand art, science and culture.
