This week the Pink Ribbon Golf Event is taking place at the Country Club of Landfall. Open to all CCL lady golf members and their guests, this event it limited to the first 100 players. The event starts at 12:30pm on September 12th at the Nicklaus Golf Course. In addition to the golf there will be door prizes and a raffle. Following the tournament there will be post golf gathering at 5:30pm in the Nicklaus Clubhouse Ballroom, which includes drinks by signature and hors d’oeuvres. This tournament is a wonderful event that brings women together and raises funds for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation Pink Ribbon Project.

Come check out the best woman and girl surfers around at the Wrightsville Beach WahineClassic! The surf contest taking place next weekend showcases all levels of female surfers, including professional, amateur, beginner, experienced, and even a Stand Up Paddleboard division. The contest is one of the only all-female surf competitions on the East Coast, and Wrightsville Beach has been the proud host since 2013.
The “Wahine” takes place at the South End of Wrightsville Beach at Access 39. Events run Saturday and Sunday 8:00am until 3:30pm, with the finals taking place at 10:15 Sunday morning. For more about this exciting event visit their website, https://www.wahineclassic.com/.
Come join the fun at the Wright Holman Shrimperoo fundraiser next Saturday for the Wrightsville Beach Museum! There will be delicious boiled shrimp plates, live music, a silent auction, and tours of renovations the museum is currently undergoing.
The fundraiser directly benefits the new site for the museum, which recently moved locations and is now located at 303 West Salisbury Street. Wrightsville Beach has a rich, full history, and the Wrightsville Beach Museum does an excellent job presenting and preserving the history. Guests visiting the museum will learn interested facts, such as the town was originally known as “The Banks” and then was named Ocean View Beach before becoming Wrightsville Beach in 1899, and that over 100 homes were destroyed on the north end of the island in a fire in 1934.

This Saturday the Opera Wilmington’s Orchestra will be performing at Beckwith Recital Hall, located at UNCW. Led by UNCW’s Department of Music Professor, Dr. Joe Hickman, the orchestra will be playing multi-generation music. The music will include Peter and the Wolf, a classic fairy tale, which will be narrated by in addition to the music. Additionally, there will be dance music by Johann Strauss, Thunder and Lighting Polka, Radetsky March, and The Blue Danube Waltz.
This performance is part of the Lumina Festival of the Arts, which is taking place July 12-July 29. This festival involves numerous forms of art including opera, concert, dance/poetry/film, theatre, and children’s entertainment. Celebrate July 4th at the Country Club of Landfall! The festivities start on July 3rd with a Buffet Dinner, kids games, music and spectacular Firework show. Dinner is from 6:00-8:00pmwith seatings every 15 minutes, but be sure to make a reservation and slots fill up fast! From 7:00-9:00pm there will kids games, music, and drinking. The fireworks start at dusk, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets to get comfortable while enjoying the show!
The following day, July 4th, there will be a Pool Party! The party includes a DJ, activities with Ms. Judy for the kids, and a buffet from 11:00am until 3:00pm. This is always a fun event, filled with friends, sun, and great food!

The Downtown Sundown Concerts take place at Water St and Princess St every Friday night in the summer from 6:30 until 10:00. This is the 13th year the season-long event will take place. The event is free, but there is beer, wine, and food for sale.
This week’s band is Hey Johnny Park, a Foo Fighters tribute band. Additional bands playing this summer are Satisfaction (a Rolling Stones tribute band), The Core (Eric Clapton tribute), 20 Ride (Zac Brown tribute), Funky Monks (Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute), and Abbey Road Live (Beatles tribute).

Swim in the azure pool, sunbathe in the warm May sun, and socialize with friends and neighbors. It’s time for the Airlie Summer Concert Series! The concert series is an outdoor event open to the public held at the beautiful Airlie Gardens. Airlie Gardens is 67 acres of gorgeous flowers, scenic walking paths, a freshwater lake, and formal gardens along the Intracoastal Waterway.
Performing this Friday is Signal Fire, a reggae and rock group, an ideal band to listen to while enjoying the summer weather! This is the first concert in the series of nine performances, all held on the first and third Friday of every month from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Additional bands that will be performing include Wilmington Big Band. L Shape Lot, Jack Jack 180, and Jim Quick and Coastline. The concert series has something for everyone with music genres ranging from patriotic and big band to beach music and blue grass.

The Azalea Festival is here! The annual event celebrates spring and Wilmington. Entertainment is plentiful, with something for everyone! Art, nature, architecture, concerts, parades, contests, parties, fairs, sports, and fireworks are some of the exciting events taking place during the festival! Some of the most popular events are:
The Juried Art Show– It’s an art lover’s paradise. There are works of art from over 100 artists, many of which are for sale. The Art Show is taking place now through Sunday. April 15th.
The Queen’s Coronation– At the head of the festival every year is the Queen. The Queen and her court attend events throughout the week and are featured in the parade. This year’s Queen is Beth Troutman. She is an Emmy Award winning television personality and has appeared on The Today Show, Extra, HLN, Good Day New York, and numerous others. Her coronation takes place April 11th at 3:00pm.
Concerts– One of the main attractions of the Azalea Festival is all the concerts that take place. Billy Currington with Drake White and the Big Fire, and Kenton Bryants are performing on Thursday night. On Friday night there are two exciting concerts! The first is an Old School Concert featuring the Ying Yang Twins, Chubb Rock, and the Hamiltones. Later that night Lucdacris will be performing with Childish Major.
Airlie Luncheon Garden Party– One of the most anticipated events of the festival, you won’t want to miss the garden party. Hosted in the gorgeous Airlie Gardens, enjoy your lunch on the Intracoastal Waterway surrounded by vibrant flowers. The Garden Party takes place on Friday the 13th.
Cape Fear Garden Tour– Sponsored by the Cape Fear Garden Club, this tour is your chance to visit the most magnificent gardens in the area. The tour has even been featured in Southern Living Magazine!
Waterfront Street Fair– Taking place April 13-15 the Street Fair is a popular attraction. There are over 250 vendors selling food, clothes, art, music, and flowers; just to name a few.
Parade– This is one of the major events. The parade takes place Saturday morning in Historic Downtown Wilmington along 3rd Street.
Fireworks – After spending the day enjoying the parade, street fair, and concerts, make sure to watch spectacular firework display. The fireworks happen over the Cape Fear River, making for stunning view.
