This past Saturday over 3000 runners gathered in Wilmington to participate in the 10th annual Wrightsville Beach Marathon. Landfall Realty has been volunteering for this incredible event since its inception, giving back to Wilmington and the Landfall community is important to us! Congratulations to all the sponsors, volunteers and most importantly the racers.

Breakfast and Lunch with Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine

Celebrity Chef, Robert Irvine is coming to the Country Club of Landfall! This Friday come have breakfast or lunch for a good cause with Chef Robert. The Food Network star and host of Restaurant Impossible and Worst Cooks in America will be at the Landfall Clubhouse at 7:30am and 11:00 am preparing a locally sourced gourmet breakfast and lunch for guests. Robert will talk about his exciting journey of how he became a celebrity chef, behind the scenes stories, and will share his favorite recipes.

This breakfast fundraiser supports GLOW Academy, an all-girls public charter school. GLOW Academy’s core values are high academic expectations, leadership development, social and emotional development, and college preparation.

Jingle Bell 5K Run

This Saturday is the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History’s annual Jingle Bell 5K Run. This festive run/walk event encourages all participants to dress up in holiday apparel! In addition to awards for the fastest runners there will also be awards for Best Overall Holiday Costume, Best Group Holiday Costume, Best Family Holiday Costume, and Best Pet Costume.

Last year there were 518 competitors and over 300 spectators enjoying the event. Proceeds from this run benefit the Wrightsville Beach Museum, which preserves the history of this special island.

Holiday Marketplace

Looking for the perfect holiday present for your friends and family? Then, the Landfall Foundation’s 8th annual Holiday Marketplace is where you need to be! Taking place on December 4th from 4pm-8pm at the Landfall Clubhouse the Marketplace has gifts for everyone. Tickets are $20 each and the event is open to the public. Proceeds from the Holiday Marketplace will go to the Landfall Foundation, which gives grants to numerous charities in the Wilmington area. This is a fun event to shop, socialize, and support a non-profit organization.

Willie Stargell Celebrity Invitational

Next weekend it’s the Annual Willie Stargell Celebrity Invitational at the Country Club of Landfall! Now in its 16th year this non-profit event brings together celebrities, sponsors, and the public for a weekend of fun and golf. The golf tournament is held in honor of baseball great, Willie Stargell, who died of kidney disease in 2001.

The event starts Saturday morning on November 10th at 9:00am – 3:00pm with a celebrity golf practice round. Later that night, the Willie Stargell Dinner and Dance will take place at 6:00 in the Landfall Ballroom. The golf tournament begins Sunday morning at 8:00 with a light breakfast for the golfers, followed by a shotgun start at 9:00. The event wraps up with lunch and an award ceremony at 2:00pm.

Celebrities at this year’s event are Olympians, actors, retired coaches, and retired athletes from the NFL, MLB, NBA, and college athletes. A few celebrity attendees include, Gregory Lloyd, Trot Nixon, Arthur Cullbreath, John Bunting, and Kelly Edge.

The Willie Stargell Foundation’s mission is to provide funds to support kidney disease research and treatment for those suffering from the disease. In April of this year the Foundation awarded $165,000 in grants.

Pink Ribbon Golf Event

This week the Pink Ribbon Golf Event is taking place at the Country Club of Landfall. Open to all CCL lady golf members and their guests, this event it limited to the first 100 players. The event starts at 12:30pm on September 12th at the Nicklaus Golf Course. In addition to the golf there will be door prizes and a raffle. Following the tournament there will be post golf gathering at 5:30pm in the Nicklaus Clubhouse Ballroom, which includes drinks by signature and hors d’oeuvres. This tournament is a wonderful event that brings women together and raises funds for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation Pink Ribbon Project.

Landfall Foundation Art Show and Sale

The 19th Annual Landfall Foundation Art Show and Sale took place last week. The show featured over 100 pieces from North Carolina artists, which were judged by Margaret “Maggie” Worthington. The 2017 art show raised an impressive amount, over $80,000 in sales and received a net of $30,000 after artist fees. Landfall Realty is a proud sponsor of the Art Show and Sale. 

The Landfall Foundation donates and changes the lives of every day people in need in the Wilmington community. There are 74 organizations that receive grants from the foundation; a few include The Cameron Art Museum, Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, NourishNC, and the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Since the Landfall Foundation started in 1995, $4.2 million has been raised and awarded to people in our area. Wrightsville Beach Museum Shrimperoo Fundraiser

Come join the fun at the Wright Holman Shrimperoo fundraiser next Saturday for the Wrightsville Beach Museum! There will be delicious boiled shrimp plates, live music, a silent auction, and tours of renovations the museum is currently undergoing.

The fundraiser directly benefits the new site for the museum, which recently moved locations and is now located at 303 West Salisbury Street. Wrightsville Beach has a rich, full history, and the Wrightsville Beach Museum does an excellent job presenting and preserving the history. Guests visiting the museum will learn interested facts, such as the town was originally known as “The Banks” and then was named Ocean View Beach before becoming Wrightsville Beach in 1899, and that over 100 homes were destroyed on the north end of the island in a fire in 1934.

22nd Annual Landfall Foundation Gala

Its time for the Annual Landfall Foundation Gala! Now in its 22nd year, the event will take place this Saturday, April 22. The theme this year is “A Royal Affair” and the enchanting gala will make guests feel as if they have been transported to an classic English garden. There will be all the merriment and sophistication of a Grand English wedding, and guests will wine, dine, and dance all night. Additionally, there will be a live Boy’s Choir and a Silent and Live Auction.

The Annual Black Tie Gala is the Landfall Foundation’s biggest fundraiser, raising 70% of the net revenue. The Landfall Foundation donates and changes the lives of every day people in need in the Wilmington community.
