GoFundMe for Country Club of Landfall Staff

Posted by

In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence the outpouring of support, fundraising, and volunteering in the Wilmington community has been truly remarkable. The members of the Country Club of Landfall have come together and through a GoFundMe have been raising money for the CCL staff members. The idea started with two board members who then reached out to fellow Landfall members to start a fundraising campaign, define the needs, and disperse the funds. The GoFundMe went live at 8:00pm and within the first 12 hours an astonishing $12,000 were raised.

Many CLL members felt the need to help, so the committee received full approval from the CCL Board and sprang into action to help the CLL staff. The members were so eager to help the staff because many have a close relationship and think of each other more like family. The CLL staff members are always attentive and go the extra mile, which does not go unnoticed.

To date $99,000 have been raised for the CCL staff. The first round of funds were dispersed yesterday. Not only has the GoFundMe effort been successful, but many members have spent time and money feeding staff throughout the club, most notably, the dedicated golf and maintenance staff. Over 50-75 meals were prepared a day and delivered to the Golf Maintenance Shed where all helpers enjoyed well deserved break and meal.

The generosity and involvement throughout this whole process has been outstanding. The success of the GoFundMe campaign highlights the willingness and enthusiasm to help others in the community. The GoFundMe has been a great way to bring the whole Landfall community together for a worthy cause.

Pippin at Thalian Hall

The popular musical Pippin is being performed at Thalian Hall this weekend in Historic Downtown Wilmington. The Tony Award wining musical follows a young prince on his search for meaning and significance in the early Middle Ages. Composed by Stephen Schwartz, who also composed Wicked, Pippin is full of fantastic music. Showings are on Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3:00pm at Thalian Hall.

Founded in 1788 Thalian Hall is the oldest theatre company in North Carolina and one of the oldest still in existence in the United States. Built when Wilmington was the largest city in North Carolina, the theater has seen a lot of changes. During the Civil War it was constantly used as a place of amusement, later notable actors such as, Buffalo Bill Cody and Sir Henry Lauder performed there. Even though there have been repairs due to a small fire and renovations the theater has remained the mostly unchanged in an attempt to preserve the historical integrity of the building. Enjoy a show and experience the rich history of Thalian Hall!

Landfall Realty’s Hurricane Florence Update

Posted by

Thanks to all our dedicated Homeowners’ Association staff, Landfall is well on its way to recovering from Hurricane Florence. Workers predict that all tree debris removal should be completed within the next 3 weeks. The benefits of being a self-contained community resulted in a quick recovery as our COA began immediate clean-up efforts. Flooding in Landfall was restricted to streets that had clogged storm drains and not from storm surge or breach of Wrightsville Beach or other barrier islands. Many Landfall residents stayed in their homes sharing their generated power with neighbors, and almost everyone else has now returned home. Communication with our owners before, during and after the storm from our COA by email and phone messages has been and continues to be outstanding. All Landfall property owners had power within 48 hours after the peak of the storm, and internet services were restored shortly thereafter. Dozens of Landfall residents have volunteered to feed and care for visiting responders at various locations around Wilmington. Spirits are high with an outpouring of good will towards the rest of our less fortunate neighbors throughout other areas of North Carolina and South Carolina.

We at Landfall Realty are back in the office, working with our customers to facilitate transactions that were pending at the time of the storm. We are also ready to help our existing clients with any issues they may have relating to their Landfall properties and homes. We feel truly blessed to live and work in a community so well organized and funded that was proven to be relatively safe from tidal waters.
