Broadway Revival Poster 2009

The rock musical Hair (original book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni with music by Galt McDermot) is currently playing weekends (through January 31) at City Stage at Level 5 in downtown Wilmington, NC.  This version is written by Michael Butler and directed by William Day with musical direction by Chaiki Ito and is based on the Broadway Hit of the 1960s which ran for 1,750 performances.  In addition to performances around the world and a feature film adaptation released in 1979 , many of the song titles from Hair have been mega hits.  A Broadway revival opened in 2009 to strong reviews and earned an award for best revival of a musical.  Now those of us in the Landfall, NC area have the chance to either relive our youth or be part of today’s “hipster” scene!  As James Rado, one of he original Hair writers and lyricists  said in 2008, “It was a show about now when we did it.  Now it’s a show about then, but it’s still about now.”

All shows start at 8PM unless otherwise specified and tickets are $22, $20, and $15.  Students and seniors take $2 off.  If you’d like to see this terrifically exuberant and wickedly fun theaater that showcases some of the areas most talented folks, please call 910.342.0272 for reservations!
