Custom Building Becomes Plan A

Posted by

1942 London Lane MLS2 CFRDA Raleigh prospect recently visited Landfall wanting to make Wilmington, NC his home.  Landfall Realty Broker, Martie Davy, showed her client many waterfront homes within the community before determining none offered the possibilities of building a custom home on an absolutely spectatular .88 acre  homesite listed for sale by Landfall Realty.  Located on the Pete Dye Course, this lot overlooks Pete Dye Lake and has views of 4 golf holes – #18, #17, #2 and #1.    Our new Landfall real estate owner plans to begin building right away, will soon join  Country Club of Landfall and now calls Landfall, Wilmington’s premier community,  “Home”.

Hammerhead Mascot "Sledge"

While not everyone in Landfall, NC is a soccer enthusiast, for those of us who are and who enjoy professional sports the Wilmington Hammerheads should not be missed.  Wilmington was awarded its first professional sports team in 1996 and, competing in the USL Second Division, are in their 14th season.  The Hammerheads, a locally owned and operated franchise, are a significant part of the local community.

The Team makes its home at Legion Stadium, a county owned and operated complex, which seats about 6,000 and includes handicapped seating for 40.  There are 4 acres of paved parking, fully equipped concessions, and field houses for home and visitors as well as a press box with public address system.

The Hammerheads also have a a Camp and Clinic Program giving over 500 kids from Wilmington, NC and beyond professional instruction from their players and coaching staff and providing positive role models for these aspiring young soccer players.

The regular season runs through mid August, so there’s still  time  for Landfall real estate owners to get a ticket and cheer on what could very well be a playoff team this year!  For more information log onto wilmingtonhammerheads.com and join the fun!.

The Economics of Golf

Posted by

With the current economic recession resulting in governments at all levels seeking new revenue sources, an examination of the economic impacts of golf in North Carolina is warranted.  According to Carolinas Golf, the Carolinas Golf Association magazine, there are about 558 golf courses in North Carolina, including those in Wilmington.  Those courses provide around 70,000 jobs and generate $1.7 billion in wages.

Surprisingly, the revenues of golf facilities (about $1.03 billion) is about equal to revenues generated by auto racing, football, basketball, baseball and soccer facilities combined.  It is no wonder that those involved in the golf industry are asking participants to contact their legislators with objections to proposals to tax those that play the game.

Real estate owners in Landfall NC know, golfers and non-golfers alike, how important golf is in our community, providing not only recreation, but beautiful open spaces as well.   The health and growth of the game benefits all of us.

July 4th Celebration was a BLAST!!

002_2Once again, the Country Club of Landfall pulled off another wonderful July 3rd cook-out and fireworks display!  We had two tables of ten in the dining room with all of our neighbors and their children.  The rooms were festive and patriotic.  There were many buffet stations set up and the food was the best ever.  There were ribs, steak, chicken, pasta, salad and more.  They even had a children’s buffet with mac & cheese, chicken fingers and French fries.  And of course they had a full dessert table!!

001_1     The fireworks were amazing and seemed to last forever!

It’s one party of the year that you never want to miss, as it is one of the best in Wilmington NC.

It’s a great way to see all of your fellow Landfall property owning friends.
